06. In the Rain

The twentieth poem for my challenge to myself. From the 追憶編 OST… Track 06: In the Rain. Please play the Music, as you read the Poem, Thank You, I hope you enjoy.

Listen closely
The sound of the wind, carring that scent
A saddness just barely noticible
Listen to it, see that you may uncover the truth
Behind false smiles, and hidden tears

Uncover it, and bring forth the hail
The speed at which they fall
The intensity of the sound

Only then it as all lost
That sensation…
When the rain sets in

05. Day After Day

The nineteenth poem for my challenge to myself. From the 追憶編 OST… Track 05: Day After Day. Please play the Music, as you read the Poem, Thank You, I hope you enjoy.

Day after day
That familiar feeling
Day after day
Breath after breath
Time moves on
But I do not

Close your eyes
Memories which return
Day after day
The same thing

Song of the Week: 我愛你有什麼不對

“我愛你有什麼不對” translates to “What’s Wrong With Loving You.” Recently I’ve been listening to Jade Liu. She has a beautiful voice, really. The song that I REALLY wanted to post want anywhere on youtube… but this one’s pretty good too. I don’t have much too say here, so just enjoy the beautiful music.

2 Strings, 1 Bow, all Erhu

So yesterday, while idling about home, the doorbell rings, and “who could that be?” goes over my mind. So I answer the door, and there stands a postman, carrying an long-ish box with Chinese hanji all over it. The word Erhu hits me instantly, along with that excitement which was long concealed. So I sign the paper that needs to be signed, grab the box, and rush back in. Grabbing the nearest knife I find, I cut open the box to discover the erhu case. Quickly that gets pulled out, and opened, inside lie the musical instrument I have long awaited, the Erhu.

First off I wasn’t expecting it to get it this soon, as I ordered it during the Chinese New Year, so I expected about a week delay on it’s estimated arrival date, which was February 7-11. Also being as I am, I’m always iffy, and somewhat untrusting when it comes to ordering things off the internet. So getting it, obviously relieved any worries I had.

So now, with the Erhu in my possession, what do I do? Well I try and figure out how to set up the thing… without the internet as for the moment, my home is lacking of such things… thing. The whole process took me a little over half-an-hour, not bad for not having a clue what to do right? Although it was until today that I discovered that I had the strings tuned a whole octave lower than they should be. But on the plus side I figured out how to play “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” on it, just by messing around with it. So I think I’m doing OK
for someone who’s never played a stringed instrument before… or rather someone who hasn’t learned how to play an  instrument at all.

Now for those who don’t know what an Erhu is, it is a traditional Chinese Instrument, also referred to as a Chinese Violin. It has 2 strings, the inside string being tuned to D, and the inner string being tuned to A, just like the 2 middle strings on a Violin. I could
probably go on and describe the whole thing to you but, as we know “a picture is worth a thousand words”. But also you probably already saw it to your right… and yes the bow does go in between the two strings.

So for some time now, I will be “teaching myself” how to play this beautiful instrument.
If you’e interested in it, I recommend getting one here, as it’s where I got mine.
